2015Nistha

Programme one

NISTHA 2015

In 2015, in association with Greater Valley School, Greater Noida, Nistha staged a fashion show and a painting competition and exhibition. Both were performed and created by the school’s autistic students, for an audience of their peers, teachers and parents.

What happened

What it demonstrated

That an inclusion event can be built around what autistic students do, rather than around what is done for them. The students walked the runway and hung the paintings; the audience was the rest of the school. Nothing about it was framed as charity, and that is the premise every Nistha format has been built on since.

Programme two

ViZvasta Workshop 2017 — the pilot

An 8-day programme for ages 14–17, run across two phases and four modules and mentored by institutional partners.

What it was, and what it informed

The pilot was built around grooming and presentation. It was a pilot: it tested whether an 8-day format, delivered with a school and mentored by partners, could hold a teenage cohort’s attention for the full course.

It informed the 2027 rebuild. The evidence base has moved, and so has what teenagers need; the 2027 curriculum keeps the 8-day format and the school partnership, and rebuilds the content around mental and physical wellbeing.
